Contemporary Subway Tile Shower Installation
Just a quick post this morning to share a really great twist on a subway tile installation in a shower.
Subway is always a go-to selection, because:
1. it’s really affordable
2. it looks clean
3. it’s timeless
4. it’s super affordable
Since we use, and (shyly admit) overuse this great tile, I was excited to see an inspirational photo, of a timeless classic.
Enjoy!
This installation was achieved using subway tile in a vertical soldier joint, with Schluter inserted every 5 widths!
1 CommentWhat’s Your Tile Style?
If you’re like me and you take a month to pick just one paint color for a room in your house then picking tile has got to be an even bigger challenge. Where does one even begin? How do I know what tile I want? The easiest way to start is thinking about what your style is. Are you romantic? Maybe porcelain or even pillowed or cushioned stone may suit you.
Tile: Beveled Arabesque – perfect for backsplashes or your fireplace! Makes a cozy spot even cozier.
Perhaps you’re looking for a classic look, one that’s evergreen like subway tile or marble!

Or, you’re even more like me than you realize and you want something that’s going to make a statement without being gaudy. You’re contemporary and you want clean lines and patterns.

Bamboozled! Mikado Porcelain Tile
Bamboozled!
Is it bamboo? Striated wood? Tricked you! It’s Mikado porcelain tile. Mikados convincing trompe l’oeil is a masterful feat of modern tile making. The natural, authentically grained appearance will taunt you to touch–just be sure it’s really tile. Now you can dare to incorporate wood’s look anywhere. No fooling!
Leave a commentGlass Mosaic Tile – Seven Heavenly New Collections
Trying to decide how to deck your walls? Get ready for a little “piece” of mind.
You’re about to discover seven new glass mosaic tile collections—creative arrangements of pure, colorful, resplendent glass—that will bring a touch of history, mystery and artistry to any interior design. All are available now at Mission Stone & Tile in Nashville.
Mosaics are among the most ancient and desirable of art forms, featuring hard bits of material joined harmoniously to create larger, dazzling finished looks, images and decor. So timelessly appealing, mosaics are wildly popular even today. One look at these new glass tile collections, and you’ll easily understand why.
Blended of the vibrant, color-soaked glass with big city panache, each of these collections is named for a Manhattan haunt or ‘hood. Just like the Big Apple, these collections are a mishmash of action that somehow comes together elegantly, memorably…beautifully.
Indulge and enjoy…
Feeling a little glassy-eyed? Venture to Mission Stone & Tile to make your selection in person. One of these mosaic collections is sure to be the missing piece for your latest project.
Off the Wall Textured Tiles
You are unique, just like everyone else. Well, this could be the case; however I have found some really Crazy Textured Tiles…perhaps too eccentric or just plain weird. You be the judge.
Depending on the strength of your stomach, proceed with caution! If you want that “just been to a salon” look for your bathroom, this is the look for you! These tiles designed by Saara Kaatra recreate a mess of hair on the floor. Personally, this would drive me crazy and probably any of your guests, who would hastily judge that you never clean! Maybe it is best reserved for an episode of Punk’d?
This next tile is actually kind of adorable. It looks like a bear cub took a stroll through a tile factory while the tiles were still in the setting phase. If you lived in Alaska, this may actually be plausible.
If you live in California, this next set of tiles may help you match up actual cracks in your home caused by an earthquake! Not sure if I dig it, but it would definitely be a conversation piece at your next dinner party.
Step into the future with this “Terminator Tile” that brings your walls to life. I would not use this tile on the floor, for the obvious obtrusions, but it could create an interesting texture on a feature wall.
For you “Twi-Hards” or True Blood fans, you may just die when you see this “Vampire Tile”! The creepiness factor may be just too much for me to handle, but to each his own!
