What’s Your Tile Style?
If you’re like me and you take a month to pick just one paint color for a room in your house then picking tile has got to be an even bigger challenge. Where does one even begin? How do I know what tile I want? The easiest way to start is thinking about what your style is. Are you romantic? Maybe porcelain or even pillowed or cushioned stone may suit you.
Tile: Beveled Arabesque – perfect for backsplashes or your fireplace! Makes a cozy spot even cozier.
Perhaps you’re looking for a classic look, one that’s evergreen like subway tile or marble!

Or, you’re even more like me than you realize and you want something that’s going to make a statement without being gaudy. You’re contemporary and you want clean lines and patterns.

Southern Style with Garden & Gun
On more than one occasion, I have heard people sing the praises of a magazine I have yet to get my hands on. But just looking at their articles online, I can see why folks have been gushing over Garden & Gun’s photography and articles – it’s a Southern magazine but without the typical look and feel of a magazine about the South. Instead, the culture in this fair region is more chic, a lot more affluent and way more stylish than some other magazines portray and I love it.
This article is about a couple in North Carolina who turned their barn into their perfect entertaining spot. (Images courtesy of Gardenandgun.com)
It’s fascinating to see how people come up with their idea of what is comfort and worthy to call home, or at least a sanctuary away from home. While I personally wouldn’t think of this as a getaway, I love how the designer kept some original features and modernized the rest. Original article here.
More from Garden and Gun here. Hope you find its articles as inspiring as I have!

When people are building their dream home or remodeling, they often disregard lighting selections and go with standard fixtures. In certain areas of your home where you would want to feature a piece of artwork, you may want to consider spot lighting, or how about feature your light fixture as a piece of art?
At Fire Farm Lighting, they can create customized indoor and outdoor light fixtures based on a client’s piece of artwork, or fixtures inspired by nature.
“The clients came to us looking for a lighting sculpture for their outdoor main entrance archway of a high-end wedding gown shop. Requesting something of ‘timeless contemporary elegance,’ this beautiful rosebud pendant delivers just that.”
How creative is this jellyfish inspired light fixture that hangs in the Bahamas?
This acrylic light fixture is reminiscent of a beach sunset, with undulating waves of red and orange.
If you love magnolias and you have a contemporary design, you may want to consider this Magnolia pendant light fixture to add grace and glow.
Transform your space with the right type of decorative lighting, but do not forget to use your inner creative genius!

When I look at the Beveled Arabesque tile from our Cosmopolitan Collection, I get inspired by the symmetry of the patterns and the elegance of the ivory. Here’s some home decor ideas that were inspired by the tile itself. Think curvy, contemporary and all-round cool.

Who doesn’t love a bargain? I hear people go on and on about how Ikea’s products are of poor quality, good for only college dorm rooms or apartments. It’s not completely true and I have also heard just as many (if not more) people praise the quality of Ikea’s products and a lot of people especially like their kitchen installations. Seemingly expensive and stylish kitchens have been put together solely using what Ikea offers and the ones I’ve seen have been quite impressive so before you poo-poo the idea, know that custom work whether from Ikea or from us is never out of your reach and there’s a price range for everyone without having to sacrifice quality.

Classic subway tile backsplash.
Clean, cool slate backsplash makes this cozy kitchen more polished.
Love the 1″ x 1″ grey tile used on the floor in this kitchen.
Can’t deny – that backsplash is such a great pop of pattern and color.
Kitchens are becoming the family room in most homes so it’s important to keep things neat yet fully functional – storage, surface space, appliances all need to be in harmony and I really like Ikea’s solutions for that. And there’s no reason why you can’t use your own specialty tile to really tie it all together! That’s the beauty of custom design and decor for the home!

I have no doubt that you, like me, lament the loss of Domino Magazine. I’m sure the people behind the magazine were just as heartbroken (if not more) than we are and thank the stars that someone, well two people, granted our wishes and started Lonnymag in 2009. More than a year later they’re still churning out serious eye candy and I’m loving every morsel they share.
It’s a bi-monthly online magazine and the site offers two views, one like a virtual magazine and the other a website with a blog. Brilliant.
If you love design and decor as much as I do and you haven’t yet gone to Lonnymag.com, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??
