Lake House Love

Posted under Inspiration, Mosaic Tiles by on June 16, 2011

We all remember the sweet nothings spoken in The Notebook, but who says we can’t have a little Lake House love too?  Well now you can with this peachy yellow color palette that smolders romance and dusk.

Get ready this summer for some lake house frolicking and picnic basket dreaming.  Get this dreamy look with our Honey Onyx mini mesh as a backsplash in your bathroom as you create a swept up look, perfect for a day of boating.

Don’t forget to pack up your sunglasses, hat, and picnic blanket in this wispy net tote. Sunset couldn’t be sweeter as you lounge in these Adirondack Chairs with your hunny and nestle your toes in the sand.  Add a couple of glasses of wine to your summer romance, and you’ll be asking, “Allie and Noah, who?”

Jewel of the Sea

Posted under Inspiration, Mosaic Tiles by on June 13, 2011

Who needs Disney to create a fairytale setting when you can recreate a mermaid’s sanctum of your own?  This organic and fanciful entry way found on House of Turquoise looks like an entrance to a mermaid’s sanctuary under the sea.  The curvilinear lines and details encompass stained glass windows that create jeweled light.

Artwork should reflect your personality and the style of your home, and this Mermaid Fantasy painting channels a mythical creature.  Beautiful jewel blue, turquoise, green, and gold tones should also be incorporated in your space.  Our Gigi Groovy Stix in Lime-olicious will create an under water experience and add sparkle to any backsplash or feature wall.

Whether you live by the sea or not, the beauty never escapes you if your home reflects fanciful details fit for fins.

Live. Love. Party.

It was love at first sight.  His eyes met Ms. Pea’s curves, and the rest is history.  After all who wouldn’t fall in love with Ms. Pea’s modern twist on an old classic?

I fell hard for Ms. Pea too.  This classic wingback chair with modern black and white upholstery is perfect for the swankiest sitting rooms.  Compliment this hip chair with a Mid Century Modern Chartreuse lamp, and turquoise accents.  You can find Ms. Pea at Heima Store, a Philippines based shop with lots of lovely wonders.

Live in an updated version of your mom and pop’s home with this Savoy Penny Round, and incorporate this playful mosaic into a backsplash or powder room floor.

Keep spreading the love, and invite over your friends and family and host your own retro dinner party!

I ♥ Herringbone

Posted under Inspiration, Mosaic Tiles, Urban Timber, Wallcoverings by on May 3, 2011

If you are looking for a unique look for your floors, walls, and textiles you should definitely consider the Herringbone pattern.  This Chevron-like pattern was first seen in the fashion world, and ever since Designers stepped outside the box and incorporated it into tile patterns and textiles we just can’t get enough of it!

Create the Herringbone pattern with our Urban Timber, Subway Tiles, and ask us about our Herringbone Mosaics.  Herringbone is an updated alternative to the Brick pattern, and when perfectly designed you can lead the viewer’s eye in a particular direction.  Get savvy on Herringbone and pick up a few essentials like Herringbone glassware, spruce up your sofa with Herringbone Pillows, design your own rug at Jonathan Adler, and don’t be afraid to embrace this chic pattern on your walls with paint or wallpaper!

When designing your home the tile selections are one of the more permanent features that will be displayed, and at Mission Stone & Tile we help you make the right selections that will reflect your personality and taste.  This particular client’s home showcases a combination of tiles in different areas of the home, but with similar shapes and styles they all mesh to create an aesthetically pleasing environment.  Be sure to send us your installation photos to be featured here!

This kitchen features tile from the Tabarka line, creating an eclectic and European look.

You cannot go wrong with our popular Beveled Arabesque tile, and when framed with a border you can create a beautiful feature wall in your shower.  Feature walls are fabulous when you have glass shower doors or an open entry shower.  Small mosaic tiles are recommended for shower floors for draining and creating a slip resistant surface.  You can also apply a smaller mosaic tile on a bathroom floor with a border for smaller bathrooms, like this Carrara Mesh Mosaic framed by 12′x12′ Carrara Marble cut to size.

Here is one more beautiful feature wall in a shower with our Tabarka Arabesque tile.  This tile is similar in shape to our Beveled Arabesque, and like the other feature wall when framed and surrounded by a simple Subway Tile you can create a gorgeous focal point!
