Not all women may admit it, but we are surprised when a gentleman opens the door, pulls out our chair, or helps us take off our coats. These chivalrous gestures are representational of a gentleman, and this masculine style room is fit for the charmer in your life.
Natural products like wood and leather are perfect examples of masculine materials, but change it up with our Horn Porcelain to add dimension while keeping the warm tones that enhance the space. This leather ottoman is a great accompaniment to the “man chair”, or place a pair under a window for extra seating. Incorporate black accessories like this vintage fan and typewriter for a little rustic appeal. Add a little nostalgia with framed vintage family photos, like this one of my Grandpa in his Navy uniform in the early 1940’s. Stylish and sexy, this space is the perfect bachelor pad or place to share together.
A Special Thanks to Roman & Williams Design for the inspiration!
3 CommentsSingle & Sexy in the City
We all remember Carrie Bradshaw’s single girl apartment in the first Sex & the City movie, and if you do not remember here is a little recap of why her pad was so fab!
New York City and many downtown city apartments all have one thing in common: lack of space and storage. Carrie’s excuse that she uses her oven to store her sweaters is just plain not acceptable, and not to mention a fire hazard. If you are single with a fabulous downtown pad and you do not want 100% Cotton on the menu, keep reading for excellent storage advice while keeping things chic!
The first tip to creating usable storage space is to think vertically. Notice how the built-in shelves house the mounted television, display items, and the drawer spaces could be used for filing away articles, storing miscellaneous household items, and act as extra wardrobe space. The built-in bench opens up to store blankets and linens, and acts as extra seating.
Distinguishing spaces is easy to do, even in a 400 square foot space. Take note from the separation of space simply created by two side tables with matching lamps. This creates a visual break in spaces, dividing the living room from the bedroom.
Keep things dreamy and reflective with a mirrored vanity which acts as extra storage, and hang a collage of your keepsakes and memories above your bed instead of introducing more shelves into your space. Some free wall space will keep things looking neat and tidy, and be sure to incorporate a paint color that represents your style.
Your home should definitely reflect your personality, and I have fallen for this LOVE painting that Carrie has placed in the entryway. The patterns and color reflect who she is, and there is noting more inviting than a space that is uniquely yours. You can also introduce large patterns, colorful prints, and small scaled furniture to optimize space.
With all the extra space and money you have saved on storage, you can slip on your Manolo’s and invite guests over for a cocktail party in your sexy downtown pad!

All You Need Is LOVE
Whether you are expecting or not, you can appreciate great design and the adorable attributes of this nursery. The first thing that caught my eye was the Tiffany Blue striped ceiling, and how it leads your eye straight to the colorful collection of children’s books. It is so nice to see the playful covers of the books, and showcase them rather than having them stashed in a bookcase. This is a great design for a couple that is expecting a child and creating a unisex room; because some of life’s great surprises are worth waiting for.
Elizabeth Sullivan Design paid great attention to detail by incorporating whimsical accessories such as the textured ottoman and colorful mobile from Big Jungle above the crib. Perfect for late night feedings or rocking your angel to sleep, this glider chair incorporates the same blue from the ceiling in the piping detail.
I love displaying items from your past, so you can enjoy them and their meaning. Create memories with your child by handing down keepsakes such as this vintage Owl Coin Bank, and they will always remember their first lovable cuddle buddy such as this Felt Bunny. The early years of a child’s life are precious, so be sure to capture and frame those moments. This photograph was taken at the Carnton Mansion in Franklin, TN. by Molly Davidson Photogrpahy, and I just melt when I see this little cutie! This LOVE print is sweet and available in other color options, but remember it is the love within your heart that makes a home.

If you have pets you can relate to the fact that you have to consider your furry friend when selecting furniture. I love white furniture, and if I could design an all white room I would choose this crisp white sofa. Instead of a white cotton fabric, incorporate a white leather sofa that is puppy hair proof! This space created with Jonathan Adler furniture and accessories is impeccably done.
Hard surfaces like wood or tile flooring are life savers when it comes to pet hair. If you want to incorporate White, easy to clean tile is always a smart choice like our Beveled Arabesque. Apply this Moroccan inspired tile to a backsplash or make a statement with an entire wall application. This look paired with these lime-a-licious Chippendale Chairs and this Talitha Rug are complimented with the Turquoise Chevron Throw Pillows and Whimiscal Sea Urchin Wall Art. Red and Fuchsia are stunning accent colors when mixed with turquoise and lime green. Incorporate these candy colors with Crystal glassware like this Baccarat Cyrstal Suite.
I can have my Saylor pup, and live in a dreamy space too. If you make smart selections you can keep both yourself and your furry friend happy.

There’s something soothing to me about circles, something comforting about a cluster of little circles. Even when I’m daydreaming and I doodle, I find it’s circle after circle next to another circle – it’s therapeutic! So it’s no surprise that I’m a big fan of Penny Round tile.
Penny Round is a classic and very understated tile. So often when people think of “clean” or “simple” tile they think subway tile or white marble but there’s a richness to penny round, a depth that’s camouflaged by the smooth look and feel of its material.
The floor gradually curves up the wall to the ceiling – brilliant! (Source)
Black penny round for the shower floor – quite a slick transition from that gorgeous hardwood. (Source)
How awesome is that metallic backsplash? (Source)
Ok so maybe that last one is a bit much but kudos to the Standard Hotel for doing it! Wonder how much the floor is worth?
Check out our gorgeous selection of penny round here.
