What Does Your Bathroom Say About You?

Posted under Bathrooms by on August 20, 2013

We aren’t talking about how clean your bathroom is or whether or not you have a superhero shower curtain…that’s a whole new kettle of fish.  If you have an intuitive designer or are creative minded, your bathroom and home should reflect your, and only your style.  Of course your spouse or significant other’s style should be reflected in your design, i.e. is there room for his or her shaving kit or toothbrush despite the monstrosity of products that get you ready in the morning?  Function & Your Style are the key ingredients to a fab design that makes you happy.  These bathroom designs reflect certain personalities, or in fact they may even compliment the style of your home if you wish to stay within a specific period.

This quaint little bathroom is reminiscent of Carrie Bradshaw’s Manhattan apartment home.  Just like all the fashionistas know, horizontal stripes aren’t always flattering, so we take note again here in this smallish space by applying vertical stripes to visually elevate the ceiling height.

Whether you live a Modern or Contemporary home or not, your personal style may reflect a Minimalist approach.  Streamlined surfaces, minimal pops of color, and simplistic design are all aspects of a Minimalist Design.  Opt for large format porcelains and crisp limestones, versus patterned tile or wallpaper.  Allow for earthtones and reflective materials such as mirrors to act as supporting roles.

If you are in love with Europe and Jane Austin novels, you may never want to leave this bathroom.  The chic romantic shutters topped off with a glowing crystal candelabra are all signs that you are in love…with the romantic side of you.  Keep the fire alive with soft fabrics on tufted chairs in front of your vanity, and always be sure to have bubbly on hand.  This is your space if you can never say no to a candlelit bubble bath.

When you enjoy spending more time outdoors than in, this bathroom just may persuade you to spend a few more of the hiking minutes inside.  The use of natural stone and rustic wood materials mixed with streamlined details allows for a Naturalistic Design.  The warm undertones and amber lighting creates a comforting space, almost as awesome as a campfire in the woods.  Marshmallows anyone?

Whether you live in the Hamptons or downtown Nashville, Traditional Design with the use of Carrara Marble and classic design is nothing short of elegant.  The beauty of the Traditionalist approach is that this style will never tire, nor will you ever get bored of these beautiful and rich materials.  Before you go nuts over a “contemporary” look, ask if you will love this look in years to come.  One simple question can open a can of worms, but whether you are certain or not, always go with your gut and your style will shine.
